Blasting along Interstate 71 will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, August 22, as part of the I-Move Kentucky project to expand I-71 to six lanes.
Beginning Tuesday and continuing for the next several months, crews will perform regular blasting work along I-71 North just south of the northbound rest area near mile marker 13. Blasting will generally occur weekdays around 2:30 p.m.
Rolling traffic stoppages will be in effect for both southbound and northbound I-71 to ensure the safety of workers and drivers. The roadway will reopen to traffic within 15 minutes unless debris cleanup is necessary.
Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen events. Drivers should use caution when traveling through active work zones. Signage will be in place to alert drivers of active construction zones and closures.
