I-Move Week Ahead: Road closures planned on Chamberlain Lane overnight Wednesday and Thursday for bridge work

Traffic will be impacted as crews work on new I-71 bridge

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Work on the I-71 bridge over Chamberlain Lane will require Chamberlain Lane to be closed overnight Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday and Thursday from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning, Chamberlain Lane will be closed at the I-71 bridge while crews work to prep the existing bridge deck and install new concrete beams. Traffic on I-71 above at mile point 9.81 will not be impacted while work is completed.

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen delays. Drivers should be cautious when traveling through active construction areas. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.

Other I-Move Kentucky Work Areas

I-71 – Work continues to widen to the roadway including excavation, bridge replacements, paving operations, and the installation sound barrier walls. Ongoing blasting work on I-71 northbound requires rolling lane closures and short-term road closures daily, including some weekends, between noon and 3 p.m. while blasting is completed. Shoulder closures and overnight lane closures may occur during sound barrier wall installation. See planned traffic impacts listed above.

I-71/I-265 interchange – Work continues on new bridges, access ramps and along I-71 near mile point 9.1. The new collector-distributor lane opened earlier this year to improve safety for vehicles entering and exiting the roadway. Ramp closures are planned this week as surface paving work is completed on I-71 at the I-265 interchange. See details.

I-265 – Work continues to widen the roadway including excavation in the median and paving operations. Ongoing work requires traffic shifts on I-265 northbound and southbound between Shelbyville Road at mile point 26.8 and Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1. Traffic shifts to enter I-265 from Shelbyville Road to accommodate ongoing construction of new bridge piers for the I-265 bridge also continue this month including a move to a new traffic pattern this week. I-265/I64 interchange – Work continues to rebuild the interchange including a new bridge, access ramps and along I-265 near mile point 25.4.
