Traffic will be impacted on I-71, I-265 and Shelbyville Road
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Several types of closures in the coming days on I-71, I-265 and Shelbyville Road to accommodate ongoing construction work.
Tonight (Thursday) from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday, Chamberlain Lane will be closed at the I-71 bridge while crews work to prep the existing bridge deck and install new concrete beams. Traffic on I-71 northbound and southbound above will be reduced by one lane near mile point 9.8 while work is completed.
Tonight (Thursday) from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the right lane of Shelbyville Road eastbound at the I-265 bridge will be closed to install a temporary barrier wall. Traffic on Shelbyville Road at I-265 was successfully switched to a new traffic pattern overnight Wednesday.
Tonight (Thursday) and for several nights over the next few weeks from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning, work on I-71 at the I-265 interchange will continue as crews mill and pave the roadway. Ramp closures at the interchange will change nightly while the multi-day paving project is completed, weather permitting. The paving schedule is updated daily on the I-Move Kentucky website.
Tonight (Thursday) and for several nights over the next few weeks from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning, traffic will be reduced by one lane on I-265 northbound for work on the shoulder. The lane closure will start near Aiken Road at mile point 27.7 and continue to La Grange Road at mile point 30.4.
On Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., traffic will be reduced by one lane on I-265 northbound for work to repair a guardrail. The lane closure will begin near Taylorville Road at mile point 23.1 and continue to Rehl Road at mile point 24.3.

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen delays. Drivers should be cautious when traveling through active construction areas. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.
Other I-Move Kentucky Work Areas
I-71 – Work continues to widen to the roadway including excavation, bridge replacements, paving operations, and the installation sound barrier walls. Ongoing blasting work on I-71 northbound requires rolling lane closures and short-term road closures daily, including some weekends, between noon and 3 p.m. while blasting is completed. Shoulder closures and overnight lane closures may occur during sound barrier wall installation. See planned traffic impacts listed above.
I-71/I-265 interchange – Work continues on new bridges, access ramps and along I-71 near mile point 9.1. The new collector-distributor lane opened earlier this year to improve safety for vehicles entering and exiting the roadway. Ramp closures are planned this week as surface paving work is completed on I-71 at the I-265 interchange. See planned traffic impacts listed above.
I-265 – Work continues to widen the roadway including excavation in the median and paving operations. Ongoing work requires traffic shifts on I-265 northbound and southbound between Shelbyville Road at mile point 26.8 and Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1. Traffic shifts to enter I-265 from Shelbyville Road to accommodate ongoing construction of new bridge piers for the I-265 bridge also continue this month. See planned traffic impacts listed above.
I-265/I64 interchange – Work continues to rebuild the interchange including a new bridge, access ramps and along I-265 near mile point 25.4.
