I-Move Traffic Alert: Major Ramp and Lane Closures This Weekend

Ongoing work to widen Interstate 71 and Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) as part of the I-Move Kentucky project will require major overnight ramp and lane closures starting Friday, Aug. 12.

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen events.

FRIDAY

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, I-71 South between Chamberlain Lane and the I-71/I-265 interchange will be reduced to one lane to allow the contractor to place chip and seal along the shoulders. The collector-distributer lane on I-71 South at that interchange will also be closed.

Additionally, the ramp from I-71 South to I-265 North and the ramp from I-265 North to I-71 South will be closed.

The closures will last until 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.

Also beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, the inside lanes of I-265 North and South will be closed between I-64 (Exit 25) and KY 146/La Grange Road (Exit 30) to allow a contractor to relocate the temporary barrier wall in multiple locations.

The closures on I-265 North and South will last until 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13; however, the left lane of I-265 North between Aiken Road near mile marker 28 and Old Henry Road (Exit 29) will remain closed until noon Saturday for pavement placement.

SATURDAY

Beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, the collector-distributor lane on I-71 South at the I-71/I-265 interchange will be closed.

The following ramps will also be closed:

  • I-265 North to I-71 South
  • I-71 South to I-265 South
  • I-265 South to I-71 South

The closures will last until 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14.

MONDAY

Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, the ramp from I-265 South to I-71 South will be closed. There will also be a lane closure on I-71 South between that ramp and the end of the project area just past Springdale Road.

The closures will last until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Drivers should be cautious when traveling through active work zones. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.
