I-Move Traffic Alert: Lane Closures on Gene Snyder Start Tonight

Work on Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) will require overnight lane closures tonight, Tuesday, May 16, as part of the I-Move Kentucky project.

Tonight, beginning at 8 p.m., I-265 North and South will be reduced to one lane between I-64 (Exit 25) and KY 146/La Grange Road (Exit 30) to allow the contractor to place pavement markers.

The closures will last until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The same closures will also be in place:

  • 8 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday
  • 8 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen events.

Drivers should use caution when traveling through active work zones. Signage will be in place to alert drivers of active construction zones and closures.

I-Move Week Ahead: Closures on I-64 Next Week for Beam Setting

A beam setting near the Interstate 64/I-265 interchange will require temporary overnight closures on I-64 Monday, May 8, and Tuesday, May 9. The work is part of the I-Move Kentucky project.

The closures will allow crews to set beams for the new I-265 overpass over I-64 as part of the interchange reconstruction.

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen events.

Monday Night: I-64 East Closure

From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, I-64 East will be reduced to one lane just west of the new I-265 overpass. Starting at 10 p.m., I-64 East will be closed completely at this location. The closure will be in place until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 9.

Drivers can use the following detour:

  • I-64 East to I-265 South (Exit 19A)
  • I-265 South to Taylorsville Road (Exit 23)
  • Taylorsville Road to I-265 North
  • I-265 North to I-64 East (Exit 25A)

Tuesday Night: I-64 West Closure

From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, I-64 West will be reduced to one lane just east of the new I-265 overpass. Starting at 10 p.m., I-64 West will be closed completely at this location. The closure will be in place until 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 10.

Drivers can use the following detour:

  • I-64 West to I-265 North (Exit 19B)
  • I-265 North to Old Henry Road (Exit 29)
  • Old Henry Road to I-265 South
  • I-265 South to I-64 West (Exit 25B)

I-Move Traffic Alert: Long-Term Lane Closure on I-64 Starts Thursday

Work at the Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and I-64 interchange will require long-term lane closures starting Thursday, Dec. 15. The work is part of the I-Move Kentucky project.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, the left lanes of both I-64 East and West will be closed at the I-265 bridge. This is a long-term closure that will allow for construction to begin on the new flyover bridge over I-64 as part of the reconfigured I-64/I-265 interchange.

The lane closures will not affect access to the interchange ramps.

Also beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, I-71 South will be reduced to one lane from KY 329 (Crestwood/Peewee Valley) to Moser Farm Road near mile marker 12. The closure will last until 6 a.m. Friday and will allow for temporary barrier wall maintenance.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Rolling Closures on Gene Snyder Sunday for Traffic Shift

A minor traffic shift on Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) will require rolling road closures and intermittent ramp closures Sunday, Oct. 23. The work is part of the I-Move Kentucky project.

From 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, a contractor will perform a minor traffic shift on I-265 North between I-64 (Exit 25) and Shelbyville Road (Exit 27). Rolling road closures will be in place.

Intermittent ramp closures will also occur on the following ramps:

  • I-265 North to I-64 East (Exit 25A)
  • I-265 North to I-64 West (Exit 25B)

The traffic shift will not change the traffic split configuration. Traffic in the far left lane will continue to utilize the current southbound lanes, with barrier walls in place to separate northbound and southbound traffic.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the ramp from I-265 North to I-64 East (Exit 25A) will be closed for shoulder work. The closure will last until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Drivers on I-265 North can navigate the ramp closure by utilizing three of the interchange’s cloverleaf ramps:

  • Take Exit 25B to I-64 West
  • Immediately take Exit 19A to I-265/Gene Snyder South
  • Take Exit 25A to I-64 East

Drivers on I-265 North can navigate the ramp closure by utilizing three of the interchange’s cloverleaf ramps:

  • Take Exit 25B to I-64 West
  • Immediately take Exit 19A to I-265/Gene Snyder South
  • Take Exit 25A to I-64 East

I-Move Traffic Alert: Ramp Closure Scheduled for Pothole Repairs

Pothole repairs on Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) in the I-Move Kentucky project area will require a temporary lane closure and the shutdown of an interchange ramp tomorrow.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 3, the right lane of northbound I-265 will be closed from I-64 to U.S. 60 (Shelbyville Road/Exit 27). The ramp from I-64 West to I-265 North will also be closed during this time to allow workers to make necessary pothole repairs.

Drivers may encounter traffic delays and are encouraged to plan an alternate route as necessary.

I-Move Traffic Alert: I-64 ramp closure Wednesday night; More guardrail work Thursday

Work for the I-Move Kentucky project will require a temporary ramp closure tonight at a major interchange. Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Jan. 26, the ramp from eastbound Interstate 64 to northbound Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) will be closed to traffic. The right lane of I-265 North will also be blocked at I-64.

The closure is expected to last about an hour. It is necessary to allow the contractor to move paving equipment that is currently inside the cloverleaf interchange. Drivers may experience delays and are encouraged to plan an alternate route if necessary.

Guardrail repairs along I-265 will continue Thursday, Jan. 27. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, construction workers will intermittently close the right lane of I-265 North between KY 155 (Taylorsville Road / Exit 23) and Old Henry Road (Exit 29). The guardrail repairs will take place at various locations in this six-mile section of I-265. Drivers may encounter traffic delays during this time.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Pothole repairs along I-265 South

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work along several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Emergency work to patch potholes on Interstate 265 South (Gene Snyder Freeway) will require lane closures this afternoon.

The repairs will take place today, Jan. 18, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the southbound lanes of I-265 between Old Henry Road (Exit 29) and I-64. During this time drivers can expect rolling lane closures and possible traffic delays.

I-Move Week Ahead: I-265 northbound and southbound lane closures planned overnight Monday

Traffic will be impacted between Aiken Road and I-64

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Work to install a camera pole will require I-265lane closures overnight Monday.

On Monday from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, traffic on I-265 southbound will be reduced by one lane between Aiken Road at mile point 27.7 and Shelbyville Road at mile point 26.8. I-265 northbound and southbound will be reduced by one lane between Shelbyville Road at mile point 26.8 and I-64 at mile point 25.4.

Other I-Move Kentucky Work Areas

I-71 – Work continues to widen to the roadway including excavation, bridge replacements, paving operations, and the installation sound barrier walls. Ongoing blasting work on I-71 requires rolling lane closures and short-term road closures daily, including some weekends, between noon and 3 p.m. while blasting is completed. Shoulder closures and overnight lane closures may occur during sound barrier wall installation.

I-71/I-265 interchange – Work continues on new bridges, access ramps and along I-71 near mile point 9.1. The new collector-distributor lane opened earlier this year to improve safety for vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

I-265 – Work continues to widen the roadway including excavation in the median and paving operations. Ongoing work requires traffic shifts on I-265 northbound and southbound between Shelbyville Road at mile point 26.8 and Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1. Traffic shifts to enter I-265 from Shelbyville Road to accommodate ongoing construction of new bridge piers for the I-265 bridge also continue this month. Traffic shifts on I-265 northbound continue for work on the median between Aiken Road at mile point 27.7 and Old Henry Road at mile point 28.8. See planned traffic impacts above.
