I-Move Traffic Alert: Major Traffic Switch at the I-64/I-265 Interchange Planned for Sunday

 

A major traffic switch for the existing I-64 East to I-265 North ramp is scheduled for Sunday, June 9. This work is part of the I-Move Kentucky project. 

The ramp from I-64 West to I-265 North will be closed on Sunday to complete tie-ins related to the new ramp opening. The ramp from I-64 West to I-265 North (Exit 19B) will open again at approximately 6 p.m., Sunday. 

Beginning at 6 a.m. Sunday, I-64 East will be down to one lane beginning at Blankenbaker Parkway to allow crews to relocate existing signs and remove old signage. When complete, I-64 East will reopen to two lanes at approximately noon. 

The new ramp from I-64 East to I-265 North (Exit 19B) will open at the same time the Exit 19B cloverleaf will permanently be closed. Work should be completed by 6 p.m. on Sunday.  

Exits 19A and 19B on I-64 will have brief closures to traffic to complete proper lane assignment and striping for the new ramp. These closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. 

Signage will be in place to alert drivers of the new I-265 exit pattern starting at Hurstbourne Lane to Blankenbaker Parkway. A message board will also be up to alert drivers that Exit 19B will be closed starting Sunday.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Lane and Ramp Closures on I-64 and I-265 Start Sunday Night

Lane and ramp closures will be in place on I-64 West and I-265 South starting Sunday night, May 19. An additional closure is planned on Monday, May 20 as part of the I-Move Kentucky project.  

Beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday, the right lane of I-64 West between I-265 and Blankenbaker Parkway will be closed. This closure will be in place to relocate a temporary barrier wall from the right shoulder to the right lane between the I-265 and Blankenbaker Parkway exit.  

Additionally, the ramp from I-265 South to I-64 West (Exit 25B) will be closed for approximately one hour to restripe the merge and shift the temporary barrier wall from I-265 South to I-64 West through the merge area. After 6 a.m. Monday, May 20, I-64 West (Exit 25B) will be reduced to two lanes.  

Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, the exit from I-64 West to Blankenbaker Parkway will be closed. This closure will be in place for crews to restripe and relocate a temporary barrier wall at the Blankenbaker Parkway exit (Exit 17).

I-Move Traffic Alert: Upcoming Lane and Ramp Closures Starting Tonight

Multiple lane and ramp closures are planned on Interstate 71, I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and I-64 beginning tonight, Thursday, April 11, until Monday, April 15, as part of the I-Move Kentucky project.

Thursday, April 11th

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, a lane closure will be in place on southbound I-71 just south of Moser Farm Road near mile marker 12 for crews to perform shoulder maintenance.

This closure will be in place until 6 a.m. Friday.

Friday, April 12th

Beginning Friday at 8 p.m., I-265 northbound between Shelbyville Road (Exit 27) and Old Henry Road (Exit 29) will be closed for crews to perform shoulder work.

Also, starting at 8 p.m. Friday, the right lane at I-64 westbound approaching Blankenbaker Parkway (Exit 17) will be closed to extend the I-64 westbound shoulder work.

Both closures will be in place until 6 a.m. Saturday.

In addition, starting at 8 p.m. Friday, the ramp from I-265 northbound to I-64 eastbound (Exit 25A) will be closed to shift the ramp.

This closure will be in place until Monday morning at 6 a.m.

Sunday, April 14th

Beginning Sunday at 7 a.m., the ramp from I-64 eastbound to I-265 southbound (Exit 19A) will be closed to shift traffic to the right of this ramp.

This closure will be in place until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Also, beginning on Sunday at 6 a.m., various areas on I-71 southbound will be reduced to one lane for temporary barrier wall relocation.

This closure will be in place until Monday at 6 a.m.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Closures on I-265 and I-64 Tonight

Overnight closures are planned on Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and I-64 tonight, Monday, April 8, as part of the I-Move Kentucky project. 

I-265 North

From 8 p.m. Monday until midnight, the right lane of I-265 North near the South Pope Lick Road overpass will be closed for overhead sign installation.  

I-64 West

Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, a lane closure will be in place at I-64 West (Exit 19) approaching the flyover bridge for bridge work. 

This closure will be in place until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

I-Move Week Ahead: Lane and Ramp Closures Planned This Weekend

Additional closures have been added since the last advisory.

Friday, April 5 

Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, the entrance from Westport Road (Exit 32) to I-265 South will be closed for sound wall construction.  

Also, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, the right lane at I-265 South (Exit 9A) will be closed at the overpass for sound wall construction. 

Both closures will last until 8 a.m. Saturday. 

 

Saturday, April 6

Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, the right lane at I-265 northbound at the South Pope Lick overpass will be closed for roadside maintenance.

The closure will last until 6 p.m. Saturday.

 

Sunday, April 7 

Beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, a lane closure will be in place at I-64 East approaching the I-265 overpass for lane realignment and bridge work.  

Also, beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, a ramp closure will be in place from I-265 northbound to I-64 East for lane realignment at I-64 eastbound (Exit 25A).  

Both closures will be in place until 6 a.m. Monday.  

 

Monday, April 8 

Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, a lane closure will be in place at I-64 West (Exit 25B) approaching the flyover bridge for bridge work. 

This closure will be in place until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Ramp Closure at I-64/265 Interchange Tonight

Work on the I-Move Kentucky project will require a ramp closure at the Interstate 64 and I-265 interchange tonight, Tuesday, March 19. 

Beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the ramp from I-265 South to I-64 West (Exit 25B) will be closed for restriping. The four-hour ramp closure will last until midnight.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Tonight’s Traffic Shift Rescheduled for Wednesday Night

Tonight’s traffic shift at the I-64/I-265 interchange has been rescheduled for the night of Wednesday, Mar. 13. Additional ramp closures have been scheduled during the day tomorrow for a beam setting. The work is part of the I-Move Kentucky project.

Wednesday Morning

From 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 13, the ramps from I-265 South to I-64 West (Exit 25B) and from I-265 South to I-64 East (Exit 25A) will be closed to set bridge beams.

During the ramp closures, drivers can take KY 155/Taylorsville Road (Exit 23) and proceed back to I-265 North.

Wednesday Evening

Beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 13, the ramps from I-265 South to I-64 West (Exit 25B) and from I-265 South to I-64 East (Exit 25A) will be closed for a lane shift. The closures will last until 6 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 14.

During the ramp closures, drivers can take KY 155/Taylorsville Road (Exit 23) and proceed back to I-265 North.

Thursday Morning

At approximately 6 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 14, I-265 South will be shifted to the left at Shelbyville Road (Exit 27). Dedicated access to the I-64 ramps will be provided closer to the I-64 West ramp. The ramp from Shelbyville Road to I-265 South will remain in its current configuration.

Drivers should use caution when traveling through active work zones. Signage will be in place to alert drivers of active construction zones and closures.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Lane and Ramp Closures on I-265 South Tomorrow

Work on the I-Move Kentucky project will require lane and ramp closures beginning Tuesday, March 12, through the morning of Wednesday, March 13.

Work may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen events.

Tuesday, March 12

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, the left lane of I-265 South will be closed at Shelbyville Road (Exit 27). The closure will allow crews to reinstall a damaged crash cushion in the area.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the ramps from I-265 South to I-64 West (Exit 25B) and from I-265 South to I-64 East (Exit 25A) will be closed for a lane shift. The closures will last until 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 13.

During the ramp closures, drivers can take KY 155/Taylorsville Road (Exit 23) and proceed back to I-265 North.

Wednesday, March 13

At approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday, I-265 South will be shifted to the left at Shelbyville Road (Exit 27). Dedicated access to the I-64 ramps will be provided closer to the I-64 West ramp. The ramp from Shelbyville Road to I-265 South will remain in its current configuration.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Overnight Ramp Closure on I-64 Tonight

Work on the I-Move Kentucky project will require an overnight ramp closure from Blankenbaker Parkway to Interstate 64 West tonight, Wednesday, March 6. 

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, the ramp from Blankenbaker Parkway to I-64 West will be closed for lighting work. The closure will last until 6 a.m. Thursday. 

The detour will be to take the ramp from Blankenbaker Parkway to I-64 East toward the I-64/I-265 interchange. Once at the interchange, utilize the cloverleaf to access the I-265 northbound ramp (Exit 19B) to the I-64 westbound ramp (Exit 25B).

I-Move Traffic Alert: Ramp Closures at the I-64/I-265 Interchange Tomorrow

Work on the I-Move Kentucky project will require two ramp closures at the Interstate 64/I-265 interchange tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 6. 

From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, the following ramps will be closed: 

  • Ramp from I-265 South to I-64 East (Exit 25A) 
  • Ramp from I-64 West to I-265 South (Exit 19A) 

The closure will allow crews to set the beams on the bridge south of I-64. 

The detour for both ramp closures will be to take I-64 West to Blankenbaker Parkway (Exit 17) and then follow signs to I-64 East.  

During the ramp closures, drivers will still be able to use the far-left lane of I-265 South starting at Shelbyville Road. Drivers taking the ramp from Shelbyville Road to I-265 South will need to detour to I-64 West, then Blankenbaker Parkway and follow signs to I-64 East.
