I-Move Week Ahead: Traffic shifted on I-265 southbound for prep work

Traffic will be impacted between Pope Lick Road and Taylorsville Road

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Prep work on the right side of the road in that area will require a traffic shift Wednesday night (tonight).

On Wednesday from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday, traffic will be shifted to the left on I-265 southbound starting at the Pope Lick Road bridge near mile point 25 and continuing to Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1.

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen delays. Drivers should be cautious when traveling through active construction areas. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.

I-71 – Work continues to widen to the roadway including excavation, bridge replacements, paving operations, and the installation sound barrier walls. Ongoing blasting work on I-71 requires rolling lane closures and short-term road closures daily, including some weekends, between noon and 3 p.m. while blasting is completed. Shoulder closures and overnight lane closures may occur during sound barrier wall installation.

I-71/I-265 interchange – Work continues on new bridges, access ramps and along I-71 near mile point 9.1. The new collector-distributor lane opened earlier this year to improve safety for vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

I-265 – Work continues to widen the roadway including excavation in the median and paving operations. Ongoing work requires traffic shifts on I-265 northbound and southbound between Shelbyville Road at mile point 26.8 and Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1. On Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., work to widen the roadway will require the closure of the ramp from I-265 northbound to I-71 northbound at Exit 35A. Traffic will also be reduced by one lane on I-71 northbound starting at the I-265 interchange at mile point 9.1 and continuing to Chamberlain Lane and mile point 9.8.

On Friday at 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, the rest area on I-71 southbound at mile point 13 will be closed.

On Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, paving work on I-71 southbound will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure will begin near the rest area at mile point 13 and continue to Moser Farm Road at mile point 11.8.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Work to remove a temporary barrier wall, install a new guardrail and replace a damaged guardrail will require lane closures this week.

On Thursday from 8 p.m. until 12 p.m. Friday, work to remove a temporary barrier under I-265 and install a new permanent guardrail will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure on I-64 eastbound and westbound will begin near the I-64/I-265 interchange at mile point 19.

On Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., work to replace a damaged guardrail on I-265 northbound will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure will begin near Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1 and continue to the I-64 interchange at mile point 25.4.

On Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., work to replace a damaged guardrail on I-265 northbound will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure will begin near Aiken Road at mile point 27.7 and continue to the railroad bridge at mile point 30.4.

Traffic will be impacted on ramp from I-71 southbound to I-265 northbound

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Installation of a high mast light pole will require a lane closure and traffic shift on a ramp Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., lighting installation work will require traffic to be reduced by one lane on I-265 northbound past the I-71 interchange near mile point 34.7. Traffic on the ramp from I-71 southbound to I-265 northbound at I-71 Exit 9 will also be shifted while a crane sets a high mast light pole in place near the shoulder.

This work was previously announced last week and postponed due to weather.
