I-Move Week Ahead: Lighting installation requires lane closure, traffic shift Wednesday
Traffic will be impacted on ramp from I-71 southbound to I-265 northbound
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Installation of a high mast light pole will require a lane closure and traffic shift on a ramp Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., lighting installation work will require traffic to be reduced by one lane on I-265 northbound past the I-71 interchange near mile point 34.7. Traffic on the ramp from I-71 southbound to I-265 northbound at I-71 Exit 9 will also be shifted while a crane sets a high mast light pole in place near the shoulder.
This work was previously announced last week and postponed due to weather.
Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen delays. Drivers should be cautious when traveling through active construction areas. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.
Other I-Move Kentucky Work Areas
I-71 – Work continues to widen to the roadway including excavation, bridge replacements, paving operations, and the installation sound barrier walls. Ongoing blasting work on I-71 requires rolling lane closures and short-term road closures daily, including some weekends, between noon and 3 p.m. while blasting is completed. Shoulder closures and overnight lane closures may occur during sound barrier wall installation.
I-71/I-265 interchange – Work continues on new bridges, access ramps and along I-71 near mile point 9.1. The new collector-distributor lane opened earlier this year to improve safety for vehicles entering and exiting the roadway. See planned traffic impacts above.
I-265 – Work continues to widen the roadway including excavation in the median and paving operations. Ongoing work requires traffic shifts on I-265 northbound and southbound between Shelbyville Road at mile point 26.8 and Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1. Traffic shifts to enter I-265 from Shelbyville Road to accommodate ongoing construction of new bridge piers for the I-265 bridge also continue this month. Traffic shifts on I-265 northbound continue for work on the median between Aiken Road at mile point 27.7 and Old Henry Road at mile point 28.8.
I-265/I64 interchange – Work continues to rebuild the interchange including a new bridge, access ramps and along I-265 near mile point 25.4.
