I-Move Week Ahead: Lane closures planned this week on I-64, I-265 for guardrail work

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Work to remove a temporary barrier wall, install a new guardrail and replace a damaged guardrail will require lane closures this week.

On Thursday from 8 p.m. until 12 p.m. Friday, work to remove a temporary barrier under I-265 and install a new permanent guardrail will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure on I-64 eastbound and westbound will begin near the I-64/I-265 interchange at mile point 19.

On Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., work to replace a damaged guardrail on I-265 northbound will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure will begin near Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1 and continue to the I-64 interchange at mile point 25.4.

On Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., work to replace a damaged guardrail on I-265 northbound will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure will begin near Aiken Road at mile point 27.7 and continue to the railroad bridge at mile point 30.4.

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen delays. Drivers should be cautious when traveling through active construction areas. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.

On Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., lighting installation work will require traffic to be reduced by one lane on I-265 northbound past the I-71 interchange near mile point 34.7. Traffic on the ramp from I-71 southbound to I-265 northbound at I-71 Exit 9 will also be shifted while a crane sets a high mast light pole in place near the shoulder.

This work was previously announced last week and postponed due to weather.

Due to the proximity to the I-71 southbound rest area and to accommodate paving work this weekend, the rest area will be closed Friday at 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday.

On Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, paving work on I-71 southbound will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure will begin near Highway 329 at mile point 14.5 and continue to the rest area at mile point 13.

On Friday from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, the ramp from Highway 329 at mile point 14.5 to I-71 southbound will be closed.
