I-Move Traffic Alert: I-71 South lane closures tonight

The removal of overhead exit signs along Interstate 71 South will require temporary alternating lane closures tonight and into tomorrow morning. The work is part of the I-Move KY project.

From 8 p.m. tonight, March 28, to 6 a.m. tomorrow, March 29, there will be alternating lane closures on I-71 South from mile marker 11 to the Brownsboro Road overpass about a mile before the I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) interchange. There will also be intermittent rolling roadblocks during this time to allow for the removal of the signage and its truss.

The signs will be replaced with a temporary variable message board until new signs are installed at a later date. The truss removal is part of ongoing work to expand I-71 to six lanes between KY 329 and I-265.

Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures. Motorists may experience delays and should use caution when driving through active construction areas.

Crews working on the I-Move Kentucky project will restore roadway striping on Interstate 71 throughout midday Wednesday, December 15. Rolling lane closures will be in effect for both directions of I-71 between the Gene Snyder Freeway/I-265 and Exit 14 (KY 329, Crestwood, Pewee Valley) in Oldham County.

The striping work is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Oldham County Police will manage traffic control during the rolling lane closures. Motorists on I-71 may encounter delays and increased traffic congestion.

On Wednesday from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday morning, traffic on I-71 southbound will be reduced by one lane between Kentucky 329 at mile point 14.5 and Moser Farm Road at mile point 11.8.

On Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., work to widen the roadway will require the closure of the ramp from I-265 northbound to I-71 northbound at Exit 35A. Traffic will also be reduced by one lane on I-71 northbound starting at the I-265 interchange at mile point 9.1 and continuing to Chamberlain Lane and mile point 9.8.

On Thursday from 8 p.m. until 12 p.m. Friday, work to remove a temporary barrier under I-265 and install a new permanent guardrail will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure on I-64 eastbound and westbound will begin near the I-64/I-265 interchange at mile point 19.

On Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., work to replace a damaged guardrail on I-265 northbound will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure will begin near Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1 and continue to the I-64 interchange at mile point 25.4.

On Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., work to replace a damaged guardrail on I-265 northbound will require traffic to be reduced by one lane. The lane closure will begin near Aiken Road at mile point 27.7 and continue to the railroad bridge at mile point 30.4.

On Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., lighting installation work will require traffic to be reduced by one lane on I-265 northbound past the I-71 interchange near mile point 34.7. Traffic on the ramp from I-71 southbound to I-265 northbound at I-71 Exit 9 will also be shifted while a crane sets a high mast light pole in place near the shoulder.

This work was previously announced last week and postponed due to weather.
