I-Move Traffic Alert: I-71 Lane and Ramp Closures Tonight and This Weekend

Work on Interstate 71 will require multiple lane and ramp closures starting tonight and continuing through the weekend. The work is part of the I-Move KY project.

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, June 9, one lane of I-71 North will be closed just past the Brownsboro Road overpass near mile marker 10 to remove temporary barrier walls, which will be moved to the southbound side of the interstate. One lane of I-71 South will also be closed near the rest area in Crestwood at mile marker 13 for the placement of the barrier walls. The lane closures will last until 6 a.m. Friday.

WEEKEND LANE AND RAMP CLOSURES

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, I-71 North will be reduced to one lane between I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and the Chamberlain Lane overpass near mile marker 10. Milling and paving operations will be active throughout the weekend until 6 a.m. Monday, June 13.

The ramp from I-265 North to I-71 North (Exit 35A) will also be closed during this time period (Friday night until early Monday morning). Drivers can navigate the ramp closure by utilizing three of the interchange’s cloverleaf ramps:

  • Take Exit 35B to I-71 South
  • Immediately take Exit 9A to I-265/Gene Snyder South
  • Take Exit 35A to I-71 North

Starting at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 11, the ramp from I-71 North to I-265 North (Exit 9B) will be closed. This closure will last until 10 a.m. Sunday, June 12. Drivers on I-71 North can navigate the ramp closure via the following detour:

  • Exit from I-71 North to I-265 South via Exit 9A
  • Stay in the right lane and take Exit 34 to Brownsboro Road (Crestwood)
  • Using the middle lane, turn left onto Brownsboro Road and take the ramp to I-265 North using the far right lane

On Monday, June 13, traffic on I-71 North will be switched to the inside lanes between I-265 and just past the Brownsboro Road bridge near mile marker 10.

Drivers will likely encounter delays during this time and should avoid the area or consider alternate routes when possible. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Lane Closure Tonight on I-71; I-265 Ramp Closure Planned for Monday

Work to move temporary barrier walls along Interstate 71 continues as part of the I-Move KY project. Overnight lane closures will be in effect for both the north and southbound lanes.

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, May 20, traffic will be reduced to one lane on I-71 North between I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and the Brownsboro Road overpass near mile marker 10. The southbound side of I-71 will also be reduced to one lane between the rest area in Crestwood at mile marker 13 and the Moser Farm Road overpass near mile marker 12.

These lane closures will be in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Next week, a construction crew will block an exit ramp on I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) for restriping work. Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, May 23, the ramp from I-265 South to KY 155/Taylorsville Road at Exit 23 (Taylorsville/Jeffersontown) will be closed to all traffic. The closure will last until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Work to move temporary barrier walls will require overnight lane closures Thursday and Friday on Interstate 71. This work is part of the I-Move KY project.

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, May 19, traffic will be reduced to one lane on I-71 North between I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and the Brownsboro Road overpass near mile marker 10. The southbound side of I-71 will also be reduced to one lane between the rest area in Crestwood at mile marker 13 and the Moser Farm Road overpass near mile marker 12.

These lane closures will be in effect until 6 a.m. Friday. The same lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Work Continues to Restripe I-71, Pothole Patching Planned for Gene Snyder

Lane closures are scheduled for Thursday on both Interstate 71 and Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway). This work is part of the I-Move KY project.

Work to restripe I-71 North between I-265 and KY 329 (Exit 14, Crestwood/Pewee Valley) began Wednesday afternoon. The contractor will resume work in this area at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28. Drivers can expect rolling lane closures and delays in the northbound lanes. Restriping is anticipated to be complete by 3 p.m. Thursday.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, the right lane of I-265 South will be closed between Old Henry Road (Exit 29) and U.S. 60/Shelbyville Road (Exit 27) while contractors repair potholes along the corridor.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Rolling Lane Closures Planned for I-71

Rolling lane closures will be in place on Interstate 71 Wednesday, April 27, as contractors restripe the roadway. The work is part of the I-Move KY project.

Beginning at noon tomorrow, rolling lane closures will be in effect for both I-71 North and South between I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and KY 329 (Crestwood/Peewee Valley) for restriping. The closures will be in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert motorists to lane closures. Drivers may experience delays and should consider alternate routes when necessary. Remember to use caution when driving through active construction zones.

I-Move Traffic Alert: I-71 Lane Closure This Evening

A lane closure on Interstate 71 will be in place tonight as contractors replace a crash cushion. The work is in the I-Move KY project area.

Beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, the left lane of I-71 North will be closed just past the I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) interchange at Exits 9A and 9B. Traffic on I-71 will be reduced to one lane while contractors replace a crash cushion that was damaged in a collision earlier today.

Motorists may experience delays and should be cautious when driving through active construction areas. Tonight’s lane closure may be in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

I-Move Traffic Alert: I-71 South lane closures tonight

The removal of overhead exit signs along Interstate 71 South will require temporary alternating lane closures tonight and into tomorrow morning. The work is part of the I-Move KY project.

From 8 p.m. tonight, March 28, to 6 a.m. tomorrow, March 29, there will be alternating lane closures on I-71 South from mile marker 11 to the Brownsboro Road overpass about a mile before the I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) interchange. There will also be intermittent rolling roadblocks during this time to allow for the removal of the signage and its truss.

The signs will be replaced with a temporary variable message board until new signs are installed at a later date. The truss removal is part of ongoing work to expand I-71 to six lanes between KY 329 and I-265.

I-Move Traffic Alert: Rolling lane closures planned for I-71 striping

Crews working on the I-Move Kentucky project will restore roadway striping on Interstate 71 throughout midday Wednesday, December 15. Rolling lane closures will be in effect for both directions of I-71 between the Gene Snyder Freeway/I-265 and Exit 14 (KY 329, Crestwood, Pewee Valley) in Oldham County.

The striping work is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Oldham County Police will manage traffic control during the rolling lane closures. Motorists on I-71 may encounter delays and increased traffic congestion.

I-Move Week Ahead: I-71 southbound lane closure planned overnight Wednesday

Traffic will be impacted between Kentucky 329 and Moser Farm Road

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to make progress on the I-Move Kentucky project as crews work in several areas of I-71, I-64 and I-265. Work to install a temporary barrier wall will require a lane closure overnight Wednesday.

On Wednesday from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday morning, traffic on I-71 southbound will be reduced by one lane between Kentucky 329 at mile point 14.5 and Moser Farm Road at mile point 11.8.

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen delays. Drivers should be cautious when traveling through active construction areas. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.

I-71 – Work continues to widen to the roadway including excavation, bridge replacements, paving operations, and the installation sound barrier walls. Ongoing blasting work on I-71 requires rolling lane closures and short-term road closures daily, including some weekends, between noon and 3 p.m. while blasting is completed. Shoulder closures and overnight lane closures may occur during sound barrier wall installation. See planned traffic impacts above.

I-71/I-265 interchange – Work continues on new bridges, access ramps and along I-71 near mile point 9.1. The new collector-distributor lane opened earlier this year to improve safety for vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

I-265 – Work continues to widen the roadway including excavation in the median and paving operations. Ongoing work requires traffic shifts on I-265 northbound and southbound between Shelbyville Road at mile point 26.8 and Taylorsville Road at mile point 23.1. Traffic shifts to enter I-265 from Shelbyville Road to accommodate ongoing construction of new bridge piers for the I-265 bridge also continue this month. Traffic shifts on I-265 northbound continue for work on the median between Aiken Road at mile point 27.7 and Old Henry Road at mile point 28.8.

I-265/I64 interchange – Work continues to rebuild the interchange including a new bridge, access ramps and along I-265 near mile point 25.4.
